In the 1933 Coupe Deutsch, Comper in Gipsy Swift G-ABWW as No.2 came third but the winner was Georges Detre at 322.8 km/hr (200 mph) in Potez 53 c/n 3402 No.10 with big 310 hp Potez 9-cyl radial engine, seen here at the Musee de l'Air in June 1969.

DOGGED BY ILL LUCK: The two Potez machines entered were unfortunate, one having to land with a broken oil pipe, and the other being put out of the race by his "two-step" propeller insisting on remaining in the high-pitch position for the take-off.
